12 Thonglor Restaurants Locals Actually Eat At — 2026 Update

By Joe Thonglor — Thonglor neighborhood writer & fact-checker ·

Thonglor has Bangkok’s densest and fastest-churning restaurant scene — new openings every month, famous closures too. This list keeps only places that have survived time and still see locals coming back.

Thai

  1. Supanniga Eating Room (Soi 6) — Grandma’s Trat-Isaan recipes; order the moo cha-muang
  2. Khua Kling Pak Sod (Soi 5) — southern Thai with zero apologies for the heat
  3. 55 Pochana (mouth of the soi) — the legendary late-nighter, open till 3:30am

Brunch & cafes

  1. Roast (The Commons, Soi 17) — the neighborhood’s brunch benchmark
  2. After You (J Avenue, Soi 15) — first branch of the honey-toast empire

Japanese

Thonglor is Bangkok’s Japanese district — izakayas and omakase counters line the whole soi. Start at the restaurant floors of Donki Mall and the all-Japanese-signage spots around Sois 9–13. The rule: the more Japanese customers inside, the safer the bet.

Into the night

  1. 72 Courtyard — the classic evening starting point
  2. The Iron Fairies — burgers and live jazz in a fantasy ironworks
  3. Rabbit Hole — Asia’s-best-list cocktails behind a wooden door
  4. Octave — the 360° rooftop nightcap

Tips

  • Book ahead for famous places, especially Friday–Saturday
  • Lunch sets are often far better value than dinner
  • Late-night hunger → 55 Pochana, or discounted bento at Donki after 10pm
