Thonglor 101 — Bangkok's Most Stylish Neighborhood

Thonglor — officially Sukhumvit Soi 55 — is a two-kilometer lifestyle street connecting Sukhumvit Road (BTS Thong Lo) to Phetchaburi Road. It packs more great restaurants, bars and luxury condos per square meter than almost anywhere else in Thailand.
Why Thonglor is famous
Three things: food, the Japanese community, and luxury condos.
Thonglor has Bangkok’s densest concentration of top-rated restaurants, from soi-side street food to Michelin-level fine dining. It has also been the heart of Bangkok’s Japanese community for decades — izakayas, the 24-hour Donki Mall and family services cluster here. On the property side, Thonglor commands some of the highest condo prices per square meter in the country.
The zones
- Lower soi (Thonglor 1–9) — near the BTS; hotels, serviced apartments, street-side dining
- Mid soi (Thonglor 10–17) — the heart: 72 Courtyard, The Commons, and flagship condos like Park Origin Thonglor
- Upper soi (Thonglor 18–25 to Phetchaburi) — quieter, with newer and more affordable condos on the Phetchaburi end
Getting around
- BTS Thong Lo sits at the Sukhumvit end of the soi
- Motorcycle taxis are the local transport of choice (THB 20–40 anywhere along the street)
- A small red bus runs the length of the soi for a few baht
